From Dark to Dim

Darkrooms have always been a comforting place for me. In the dark with water running and images appearing like little dreams made real. I especially felt this way about my father's darkroom. I grew up in darkrooms, and my very idea of my father has always been synonymous with working in a darkroom.

Upon arriving at my parents' house this week, my father's darkroom sink lay in the front yard like a heart ripped from my childhood. My dad and my uncle excitedly told me the room was now a dimroom, digital imaging room. Dimroom may be a witty thought, but it felt like any other room. I guess light chases away inner peace, imagination or whatever that special thing that hides inside us all is, even the low light of the dimroom.
